To kick off our year, we’d like to spotlight NYPCMA Member Dawn Eagleton. Dawn was recognized last month at our 2020 ACE Awards for her continued involvement in and support for all of our chapter activities. Congratulations on winning our 2020 NYPCMA Engaged Award, Dawn – you deserve it! Get to know her in this interview.

1. Tell us a little about how you got into the business events industry.

I started in the industry by accident. I was working in the corporate world, in my role as sales manager I often planned my client events at hotels. During one of the events I met the director of sales for the property who convinced me that working on “their side” of the industry was a more interesting career-the rest is history. I worked for that hotel for a while then started representing CVB’s for the rest of my career.

2. What’s your favorite part of your job?

The most fulfilling part of my job is partnering with our clients to produce successful events in my city. The very best part though is building life-time friendships with my clients and industry colleagues.

3. What was your favorite NYPCMA event or experience in 2020, and why?

Our NYPCMA Chapter has many valuable education events but my favorite events of 2020 were our weekly, end of the day networking zoom meetings. Although virtual, we all had the chance to show support and get to know each other well in these stressful times even when we couldn’t be together in person.

4. Share a personal or professional goal for 2021!

I’m sure I share this same 2021 goal with many others, I can’t wait to be able to travel again to reconnect with friends and family face to face.
