President’s Corner

Hi friends,

Hope you are all doing well and continuing to stay safe and healthy. I recently got my first shot of the vaccine, and oh man I can’t tell you how awesome a feeling it was. I was so excited that I could barely sleep the night before. The moment that needle pierced my skin felt like the proverbial needle that popped the bubble that I have been living in this past year.  I will of course continue to wear my mask, continue to social distance, and follow all safety guidelines. But as of 10:35 AM on April 4, I finally can start to see that glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. I want to thank the fantastic staff and nurses at the CVS on Grand Street in Mt. Vernon, NY. They couldn’t have been nicer, and they couldn’t have made the process any easier. And if you are reading this, I urge you to get the vaccine when it’s your turn. Only when most, if not all of us, is vaccinated can we be confident to get together again for in-person events. I know I can’t wait for that day! But until then…

In an effort to show that we can still hold in-person event during this pandemic, I am so proud that NYPCMA is joining forces with MPIGNY, SITE Northeast, and EventFluence to hold a hybrid event during Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID) on “Planning a ‘Meet Safe’ Hybrid Meeting.” This hybrid event takes place at the Conrad New York Downtown on April 8 from 4:45 – 7:00 PM. And best of all, it’s FREE to all meeting professionals. This program features an esteemed panel from association, corporation, hotel, and technology vendor to give you a behind the scene look on how to plan a “Meet Safe” hybrid meeting. You don’t want to miss it! To register please click on the link below.

Please Note: Only Virtual participation at GMID is available at this time.

We have a lot of other exciting programs in the planning stages, so please continue to stay in touch by checking the website, reading the newsletter, and following us on social media. And of course we still have the NYPCMA monthly virtual social hour (next one is scheduled on April 28th) which is a fantastic forum for networking and sharing ideas.  As always, please don’t hesitate to email me at [email protected] if there is anything that you want to talk about. Thank you for your continued support of our chapter.

Onward and upward,

Jimmy
