President’s Corner – Winter 2019

Diane Brady – NYPCMA Chapter President

Happy February Everyone.

January was a busy month. After participating in Convening Leaders, I came back all charged up to get the year started and feel like I’ve made some pretty good progress!  On the top of my list was to identify a new Marketing Board Director to harness the power and passion of our awesome marketing committee and take our marketing efforts to the next level. I would like to welcome Matt Pizzimenti, Director of Sales & Marketing, NY Marriott Marquis to our board. Matt is a fun, creative marketing professional who we are really looking forward to working with. Welcome Matt!! Thank you in advance for your volunteerism and dedication.

Additionally, I have been collaborating with the local chapters of MPI and SITE to develop a very interesting, interactive and impactful GMID event that will be taking place on Thursday, April 4. You will not want to miss it! More details to follow soon but save the date. Will be an afternoon time-frame.

One of my goals this year, and actually has been an initiative of mine from the time I joined the board 5 years ago, is to encourage the students and emerging professionals in our industry to get involved. We have made some progress here but this is a tough group to get through to and I need some help! If you have young colleagues or students in your life, please encourage them to explore the idea of being a part of something larger than themselves. Managers, please encourage continued personal/professional development within your staff. It’s good for everybody! We have 2 resources dedicated to this segment – We have an Emerging Leaders committee devoted to forming student chapters at local universities and to expand interest in the PCMA community; and we also have funds earmarked to assist them in attending events and getting involved. Caitlin Hume is our Director, Emerging Leaders chume@rims.org. Please reach out for more information.

Next on the calendar, we have our winter program on Tuesday, February 26. It is all about PODCASTS!!

We are in the process of finalizing all the details now and registration will open very soon. We have limited space so make sure you register early. It will be a unique and informative session.

Will I see you there?

That’s it for now. Stay warm!
Diane
