2022 Education Day – Meet Our Speakers

Ethan Butler, Storyteller, Dear World

Ethan Butler is an entrepreneur, singer/songwriter, Pastor, and Dear World Storyteller.

Ethan Butler has been on stages for as long as he can remember, as a Dear World storyteller he’s certified in the Brain Tattoo method and helped people find their stories.

Ethan is a firm believer that everyone has a story worth telling. With over 15 years of leading and developing others, He believes that in order to offer the best of what we have to the world, we need first to know ourselves, pursue health, and love ourselves and others unconditionally.

From the stage of NBC’s “The Voice”, to the church platform, or the coffee shop, his heart and drive are connected—connecting with God, himself, and others, in the hopes of bringing about change in a hurting world.

Benjamin Reece, is the CEO of Dear World, and is based in Salt Lake City. Previously he was as the founder and CEO of Deltree for a decade, and Senior Developer at the Louisiana Public Health Institute in New Orleans, post-Katrina.

Benjamin Reece is a digital storyteller. He can direct, produce, invest money, build teams, create platforms, inject vision, design for the web, & present creatively. With over 15 years of experience, he has created over a billion views.

Buzzfeed, Vice, The Independent, The Guardian, DVDs, subways, theaters, and Ellen’s twitter feed, are a few places featuring the work. Provided production management and creative direction in over 20 countries. Presented projects at Oxford, Yale, TED, and the Nobel Peace Forum.

Beth Surmont is an event strategist who works with associations and non-profits to help them redesign, reinvent, and reinvigorate their events. She is fascinated by the power that events hold to drive real change in the world. With on-the-ground event planning experience spanning more than 20 years in events, trade shows, corporate, and non-profit, Beth is a leading designer in what the next era of events will be. Her approach of audience-centered design combined with purposeful intention is the secret to creating meaningful and impactful events that advance the organization and accelerate the industry it serves.

She holds a BA from Denison University in composition and is certified in Appreciative Inquiry methodology. She’s been a Certified Meeting Planner since 2008, and a Certified Association Executive since 2016. She served as chair of the ASAE Meeting & Exposition Council from 2016 – 2018, and currently volunteers as an active Council member. In 2020, she was named one of the Top 25 Influencers in the Meetings Industry. In 2019, she was named one of BizBash’s 1000 Most Influential People in Events. She regularly writes and speaks on the future of event design. And she currently lives in New Jersey with her wife and two dogs.
