Day of Service – Volunteers will spend about 3-4 hours lending a helping hand with whatever the House needs help with. Date: Tuesday, May 19, 2020 For more information and to sign up and volunteer, contact Vanessa Bass Date: Saturday, June 20, 2020 Volunteers will be delivering meals to our home-bound elderly neighbors, on foot, within walking distance of the senior center. Habitat Volunteer – Volunteers will be working on affordable single-family homes formerly owned by the New York City Housing Authority and sold to Habitat. No construction experience is necessary as the Habitat staff will provide the training necessary. Work could include demolition of the house to its structural shell, digging out the basement foundation, framing, and other carpentry, sheetrock, flooring, or painting. There will be a Habitat shuttle that drives volunteers to the work site from the E/J train stop to Jamaica Center – Parsons/Archer. Serving the homeless food – Volunteers will prepare and serve breakfast to homeless and hungry New Yorkers in the East Village. Due to The Father’s Heart Ministries’ Child Protection Policy, volunteers must be at least 14 years old. Volunteers between the ages of 14 and 18 must be supervised by a parent/guardian.
