Chapter News

President’s Corner

Hi friends,

It’s been a short while since I last wrote to you. My apology for that as May turned out to be much busier than I had expected. Please forgive me. I trust you are all doing well.

May was indeed busy, but June is shaping not only to be a busy month, but an exciting and active one too. First and foremost is this first ever PCMA Virtual Chapter Run/Walk Challenge which will take place from June 7 to July 7 leading right into EduCon. It’s heartwarming to see all the chapter leaders coming together for this challenge to celebrate our industry, to promote member engagement, to foster fun competition among chapters, and most importantly to raise money to support the mission of the PCMA Foundation. As of June 10, there is just shy of 200 runners/walkers signed up, and we have already raised close to $3000 for the Foundation. The goal is $10,000!  I hope you will sign up to support NYPCMA (we need YOU in order to compete with the other chapters for bragging rights), and of course to the Foundation.

In addition to this PCMA wide challenge, I know the NYPCMA CSR committee is working towards a bikeathon in addition to our continuous Charity Miles activities.  Program wise, we have an “Executive Forum” scheduled on June 25th. We have invited 5 outstanding executives from associations, corporations, and CVBs, to share their thoughts and vision for what the future holds for conferences and events. You definitely don’t want to miss it.  We are also planning our annual Summer Mixer which will be the first in-person event for NYPCMA since last February. I can’t wait!

The weather is warming up, so many places have reopened, we can attend events again, and walk around outside without a face covering. All signs point towards us getting back to some sense of normalcy soon. But none of this is possible without our collective patience, resolution, and care for each other. So please if you have not already done so, I urge you to get vaccinated so that you can join us/help us continue on our way back to normal.  Until I see you again, please don’t hesitate to email me at [email protected] if there is anything that you want to talk about. Thank you for your continued support of our chapter.

Onward and upward,

Jimmy
