President’s Corner

Hi friends,

As always, I trust you are all doing well. Here we are in July which is my favorite month. School is out, summer is in full swing, the weather is not too bad yet except for the recent heat wave (that was nuts!), and of course Independence Day which, for 2021, brings new meaning to what it means to be free.  It was so amazing, and heartwarming, to see all those people who gathered to watch the beautiful Macy’s firework display on July 4th.  I finally was able to take my children to a baseball game (Let’s go Mets!) without any worries. It’s such a wonderful feeling And none of it would have been possible without all the hard work and sacrifice we have all made these past 15 months. We have come a very long way, but we still have a little longer to go especially with new obstacles. Please continue to stay vigilant and please go get your shots if you haven’t already done so.

Speaking of coming a long way, the first ever PCMA Run/Walk Challenge is nearing its end. This month-long challenge is coming to end on July 7.  Although it doesn’t look like #teamNYPCMA will come out on top, I am so proud of what we were able to accomplish with this event. 188 people participated, close to $5,000 was generated for the PCMA Foundation, and just shy of 6,000 miles were ran/walked. I want to thank those of you who signed up for the NYPCMA team.  Hopefully this is the start of something much bigger.

I am saving the best for last. After more than a year of virtual events and happy hours, I am SO excited that NYPCMA is finally getting back together in person for our annual Summer Mixer (https://newyork.pcma.org/event/summersocial2021/) which is sponsored by our good friends at Visit Salt Lake. If you have attended this event in the past, you know how much fun it was to hang with your fellow NYPCMA members. Well, I can only imagine that the fun level will probably double (triple?) on July 14 considering how long it has been since we all got together. So hurry up, go register and ensure your spot in all the fun!

Thank you for taking the time to read this column. Until I see you again, please don’t hesitate to email me at [email protected] if there is anything that you want to talk about. Thank you for your continued support of our chapter.

Onward and upward,

Jimmy
