September Spotlight

Welcome to NYPCMA, Edmundo. Let’s get to know you! (And, Happy Birthday on Wednesday September 9th!)

  1. Tell us a little about how you got into the business events industry.

It started with an internship as part of my bachelor’s degree.  I secured an opportunity with a music travel agency based in Tempe, AZ supporting the touring and festivals production department.  Following the internship, I was offered a full-time position where I contributed to the growth of company for six years before leaving to pursue my career advancement producing live events in New York City.

  1. What’s your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of the job is the moment when all the planning comes together on the day of the event.  Depending on the project, the process can be chaotic and intense.  But once you have taken it past a certain point, you can let the project live and come to fruition knowing you are prepared for what else may come your way.

  1. What’s the most fun or productive thing you’ve done in quarantine?

The most productive thing is starting the PCMA Digital Event Strategist certification (expected completion in September 2020); the down time is a great opportunity to learn new skills, especially since the events landscape will be quite different in the immediate future.  The most fun, would be taking time to revisit my music study – I don’t play any instruments anymore – but I enjoy music theory and writing.

  1. Share a link to your favorite recipe!

This one is more of a method than a recipe – it is reverse searing for steak.  As most apartment dwellers in New York City know, pan searing steak in our small kitchens is a smoke alarm nightmare.  This approach adds cooking time, but cuts the searing time in half and the results are great! https://tasty.co/recipe/reverse-sear-steak
